Surgery is a pain, but homeopathy can help!

Homeopathic remedies are a natural and effective way to aid the body in recovering after surgery. For all types of surgery, homeopathic remedies can be used to speed up healing and decrease pain. Some of my clients have found homeopathics to be so effective that they greatly reduced or even eliminated the use of prescription pain medicines after surgery. My clients' doctors have also been surprised at how quickly healing occurred after surgery.
Scientific Evidence that Homeopathy Can Help with Surgical Recovery
Scientific studies have also found homeopathics to be effective when used pre- and post-surgery. A few examples:
Perioperative Arnica montana for Reduction of Ecchymosis in Rhinoplasty Surgery - This double-blind, placebo-controlled study found that oral administration of Arnica montana reduced bruising after rhinoplasty (nose) surgery. The authors of that study concluded that,
"Arnica montana seems to accelerate postoperative healing, with quicker resolution of the extent and intensity of ecchymosis [bruising]..."
Is there a role for homeopathy in breast cancer surgery? A first randomized clinical trial on treatment with Arnica montana to reduce post-operative seroma and bleeding in patients undergoing total mastectomy - This placebo-controlled study found that Arnica, taken orally, reduced post-operative blood loss after mastectomy surgery.
Homeopathic treatment for peripheral nerve regeneration: an experimental study in a rat sciatic nerve transection model - This animal study looking at nerve regeneration found that rats who were given Hypericum perforatum 30C had faster and better recovery of affected nerves than untreated rats.

10 Homeopathic Remedies for Surgery
Aconitum napellus 30c is helpful for pre-surgery anxiety, especially if there is fear of death.
Arnica montana 30c can help with any surgeries. It helps prevent hemorrhaging and blood loss. Arnica also reduces pain, swelling, and bruising. Â
Phosphorus 30c may be helpful for any problems coming out of anesthesia.
Staphysagria 30c works well for healing surgical wounds specifically.
Hypericum perforatum 30c works well for healing damaged nerves and infected wounds. Nerve pain that may respond well to Hypericum may include sharp or shooting pains. Hypericum is also an excellent remedy to use if there are any signs of infection of the wounds such as redness, red streaks, pus, etc.
Bryonia 30c is helpful when any small movement causes pain. There may be a desire to keep the injured part very still. The injury feels better with no movement at all, and any little movement causes increased pain.
Ledum palustre 30c works well for deep bruising (dark purple color) as well as other injuries when there is any coldness, numbness, or tingling of the injured part.
Rhus toxicodendron 30c helps with healing ligaments and connective tissues. The injury may feel restless and there is a desire to stretch or move the injured part. The injury feels worst on initial movement such as change of position, but the pain may lessen on continued movement.
Ruta graveolens 30c helps with healing tendons, cartilage, and bone covering. There may be restlessness but continued movement does not relieve the pain. Also works well for dental surgeries specifically.
Symphytum officinale 30c helps with bone healing specifically.

Dosing and Alternating Remedies
Here is some general guidance that may be helpful when using homeopathics for surgery.
Arnica Alternated with Other Remedies
Arnica can be used pre- and post-surgery, with a dose just before the surgery and then as soon as possible after surgery.
After the initial doses of Arnica, it can be alternated every few hours with other needed remedies and continued until there is no longer bruising and/or swelling. (Note: Arnica can be so effective at preventing bruising that you may not actually show any bruising if it is used before and after the surgery.)
Staphysagria can be alternated with Arnica every few hours for a few days after the surgery, to aid in wound healing.
Besides Arnica and Staphysagria, other remedies such as Hypericum, Ledum, Bryonia, Rhus tox, and/or Ruta can be added as needed. For example, after dental surgery, it may work well to alternate Arnica with Hypericum and Ruta every few hours.
Once the swelling and/or bruising is gone, discontinue the Arnica but continue with the other remedies as needed.
When Symphytum is needed for bone healing, it may work well to take one dose daily for three days, then slow down the dosing to once every 2-3 days for a week, then potentially once every 5-7 days or so.

Assessing Remedy Responses for Proper Dosing
As long as there is more than one remedy being used in alternation, it is generally fine to just use dry doses consisting of one pellet, dissolved on the tongue at a time when there is no taste in the mouth from previous food/drink.
You should be able to tell there is a positive improvement from each remedy (Symphytum is an exception, as you may or may not be able to actually feel that it is making a difference for the actual bone healing.) When you experience improvement from a remedy, wait to take another dose of that particular remedy until the improvements are wearing off. If there is no improvement from a specific remedy within a few doses, stop using it.
Make sure to watch your symptoms to know when to take subsequent doses, rather than just taking doses on some pre-determined timeline. For the first few days after surgery, remedies may be needed every 2-4 hours. Over time, the doses will be able to be spread out more. Â
