Healthier Pecan Pie

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

Here's a real food Pecan Pie recipe for you! This recipe ditches the usual corn syrup, and instead relies on unprocessed sweeteners (sucanat and maple syrup) with healthy butter for a rich and sweet delicious flavor.

Even though this pie is a sweet treat for dessert, it still provides some great nutrition:

  • Grassfed Butter: healthy fats plus vitamins A, D, E, & K2

  • Crispy Pecans: protein plus calcium, magnesium, potassium, plus many nutrients such as copper and zinc

  • Pastured Eggs: healthy fats and protein, plus vitamins A & E and omega 3's

  • Einkorn Crust: more protein, less gluten, and more nutrition than modern wheat

My family loves this recipe, and I hope it makes your holiday season a little more special, too!

Pecan Pie

Makes filling for one 9-inch pie

  1. Get your pie crust ready before you start making the filling. There is no need to parbake the crust before baking the pie.

  2. If you're using raw nuts instead of crispy nuts, toast the nuts in a small skillet over medium-low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will enhance the flavor of the nuts. Set aside and allow to cool.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  4. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Set aside and allow to cool a bit.

  5. Combine the eggs, sucanat, syrup, milk, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk it all together.

  6. Whisk in the Einkorn flour. Then whisk in the melted butter until well-combined.

  7. Fold in the pecans.

  8. Pour the pie filling into the prepared pie crust.

  9. Bake the pie at 350 degrees F for about 35 minutes.

  10. The pie is done when the filling has set and the nuts are golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

  11. Once the pie is cool, slice and serve. This pie is great as-is, or you can also serve it with whipped cream. Enjoy!
